Scary lava in La Palma
It is THE thing everyone is talking about currently when it comes to natural disasters: The vulcanic eruption in Cumbre Vieja (La Palma), which happened the 19th of September (2021).
About 6000 people needed to be evacuated, and the tourist attraction has now been declared as a disaster area. And just about a few hours ago of me writing this article (the 29th of September), the lava flow got into the water! So now, everyone also needs to potentially watch out for dangerous gases. Experts think that lava chunks could cause explosions as well. (if you want more detail on that, click this link) The government in Madrid also spent 10,5 million Euros for helping injured people and for those still stuck on the island.
Let’s just hope that the situation will calm itself so that the island can be visited/lived on again.
