Studying with music? Does it work?
Many students like to listen to music while studying. But is this a good strategy? What music can I listen to?
Music can cause different feelings such as happiness or sadness. However songs about lovesickness or electronic music are not suitable while studying. Scientist found out that the brain can learn better with sounds. It depends on the melody or text whether the diversion is big or not.
One example is a hip- hop song which gives you more attention than an instrumental song.
Music can help you to progress your learned stuff. In the rhythm of a song, you can learn for example vocabulary or math formula really well. Recommended musics are classic music, but if you don’t like classic music, you can listen to ambient music. What does ambient music sound like?
It has the same effect like the classic music. The only difference is that it’s more modern.
An alternative is relaxing music, it has nature sounds, like rain drops, ocean or from the forest sounds. Listening to your favourite song helps you during a learning break. These songs can minimize stress and can process better what you just have learned. It also motivates your learn session. My tip for you: do a studying playlist in a music app before learning. After you’re done listening to a song, you don’t have to think about what you should listen to next.
I hope you guys could learn more about studying with music. Share your thoughts about it.
